Beta Theta was founded on March 20th, 2011 by a group of enthusiastic female engineers led by Debapria Das.
Our chapter was established permanently at Stony Brook on November 10th, 2012 with 13 dedicated charter members: Debapria Das, Koyel Chowdhury, Soni Kakran, Lisa Dang, Tanushree Sengupta, Piariny Taveras, Christina Cloutier, Jessica Barnett, Tiffany Haynes, Shushanna Cherian, Jacklyn Vendittelli, Briana Brown and Cindy Klager. These intelligent and driven young women came together to establish a place where women in STEM fields could flourish together.
The Beta Theta chapter is the only professional and social sorority at Stony Brook University. In 2014, we became a member of PGC, the Professional Greek Council, on campus. Together, we work with several other professional greek organizations to promote the academic and personal success of our members.
